Lithuania vs Estonia Preview

This match is hardly of any interest to those who reside outside the borders of these two countries, but the fans of both teams are quite enthusiastic. Lithuania and Estonia will meet once again and the visitors will try to break out from the funk, as their recent head to head games were rather disappointing. They are both outsiders in Group E and despite the positive start, they will have a hard time qualifying at the expense of either England or Switzerland.

Lithuania vs Estonia Tips

Lithuania played on the road in San Marino and scored twice without allowing the go, hardly a remarkable performance given the weakness of their opponents. The visitors were pragmatic and didn't take more chances than necessary, in an attempt of avoiding injuries. The good news is that they have a squad at full strength and can use the best players in the starting formation.

Cernyoh, Matulevicus and Novikovas played together from the first minute one month ago and they're expected to featuring the starting formation. This means that Lithuania will be the team to take the initiative early on and they will try to push their neighbors into a corner.

The 4-3-3 formation could easily backfire against an aggressive opponent, but this shouldn't be the case when Estonia comes visiting. The neighbors are a defensive minded team, which relies on a single striker and puts its hopes in a midfield comprised of five players. They were lucky to score the winning goal against Slovenia in early September, with just four minutes left in regulation time.

At the end of the day results are all that matter, which explains why manager Pehrsson will use the same 11 players tonight. Purje scored the decisive goal in the opening match, but the player to watch for tonight is Henri Anier, the only forward to be used by Estonia.
