Sogndal vs Odd Preview

Hadn't it been for the string of undecided games in front of their fans, Odd would be sitting now in the second place, with a significant advantage over the pack. As it is, they trail both Rosenborg and Stromsgodset by one point, but have a great opportunity to leapfrog both of them. They both play on the road, with Rosenborg facing the leader, so Odd needs to continue its successful streak away from home, with the new obstacle being Sogndal.

Sogndal vs Odd Tips

Sogndal doesn't have high expectations for this season, with their objective being to avoid relegation and so far they are clearly on track. Winning away from home has always been a problem for this team, but in front of their fans they are a hard nut to crack. In the last three games, they scored just three goals but preventing opponents from finding the way to the net, which is a remarkable performance.

In terms of form, the hosts are struggling heavily, having lost three of the last four games, including an untimely elimination from the Norwegian cup at the hands of Viking. In the most recent home game, they were held scoreless by Lillestrom, in a match that could've easily gone either way as both teams missed out on numerous opportunities to score.

It looks like manager Olsson can't decide between Flo, Otoo and Nilsen, with the three strikers being rotated every match. The last two were used in the last three games, but since none of them managed to score a single goal, it is only fair to assume that Flo will be introduced in the starting formation.

Things aren't much easier for the visiting team, who only has two strikers capable of playing for 90 min. Interesting enough, Johnsen is the top scorer, but he recently turned 40 and at this age he is unable to compete at the same level for an entire match. On the bright side, Odd has a formidable midfield, with Samuelsen being the top scorer with six goals in 16 games.

Key Facts

  • Sogndal failed to score in the last three games, while Odd kept a clean sheet in the last two games.
  • The two teams have split points in the 17 games played so far, with the last two matches ending as scoreless draws.

Sogndal vs Odd Prediction

This is probably going to be a tight match, decided by one goal, which makes it pretty difficult to pick a winner. Given the fact that Odd hasn't lost a match in three months, it is worth giving them credit to prevail on the road, especially with odds of 2.20 for a straight victory.
